What it does
Count the days, weeks, months, or years between two dates — with a clean year/month/day breakdown for "X years and Y months and Z days" outputs. Handles forward and backward spans (negative numbers when "to" is before "from").
Useful for project deadlines, age calculations from a specific reference date, contract durations, and the kind of "how long until X" question that comes up constantly.

Frequently asked questions
- How are months counted?
- The Y/M/D breakdown counts calendar months — going from Jan 31 to Mar 1 is 1 month and 1 day, not 29 days. Total weeks/months/years use averaged values (30.4375 days/month, 365.25 days/year) which is more useful for averages but less precise for any specific span.
- Does it handle leap years?
- Yes. JavaScript's Date object handles leap years automatically; the day count between Feb 1, 2024 and Mar 1, 2024 is correctly 29 days.
