PDF to Text
Drop a PDF and copy the plain text out. Works for reports, books, receipts. All processing happens in your browser.
This extracts real text embedded in the PDF. Scanned documents (images of text) need OCR — this tool can’t read them.
What it does
A free PDF to text extractor. Drop a PDF and get the plain text out in seconds — with optional page markers so you can jump around in the output. Runs entirely in your browser using Mozilla’s battle-tested PDF.js engine, so your document never leaves your device.
Useful for pulling quotes out of a report, indexing research papers, feeding content into another tool, or just checking what’s really inside a PDF without opening a heavyweight app. Note: scanned PDFs are images of text — you’ll need an OCR tool first before this can read them.
How to use it
- Drop your PDF into the upload box.
- Wait a few seconds while the pages stream in.
- Toggle Page markers off for continuous text, on to jump by page.
- Copy the output or download as a .txt file.
