When 'just compress more' is the wrong answer

If a JPG is at 60% quality and still too large, the right move is usually format conversion (to AVIF or WebP), not more compression. AVIF at 50% quality is typically half the file size of JPG at 80% with similar perceived quality. Use the format converter first; if AVIF is still too big, then size down before compressing further.

Why EXIF stripping matters more than people think

Smartphone photos carry GPS coordinates accurate to ~5 meters by default. Posting an unedited photo of your home, kid's school, or vacation rental on social media leaks that location to anyone who downloads the image. Most platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) strip EXIF on upload — but emails, Discord, blog uploads, and 'send original quality' shares do not. Run the EXIF remover before any image leaves a private context.
