What it does

Reorder, rotate, and delete pages in a PDF using a visual thumbnail view. Every page renders as a small preview you can move up or down, rotate in 90° steps, or drop from the final document. When you’re happy with the order, save a new PDF that mirrors it exactly. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

For pure splitting, PDF Split is faster. For combining PDFs from multiple files, Merge PDF is the right tool. This organizer is for when you already have one file and want to clean up its page order — scanning fixes, removing blanks, fixing upside-down scans.

How to use it

  1. Drop a PDF — thumbnails load for each page.
  2. Use ↑/↓ to reorder, the rotate button for orientation, ✕ to delete.
  3. Click Save reorganized PDF when the order looks right.
  4. Download your rearranged file.

When to use this tool

  • Fixing scanned document order when pages were fed out of sequence.
  • Removing blank pages from scanned documents.
  • Rotating sideways or upside-down scans to correct orientation.
  • Reorganizing a multi-section report after sections were edited separately.

When not to use it

  • Combining pages from MULTIPLE PDFs — use Merge PDF instead.
  • Extracting specific pages as separate files — use PDF Split.
  • Editing actual text content on pages — that requires a PDF editor.

Common use cases

  • Scanned 30-page document with two pages out of order — visual reorder fixes it in seconds.
  • Mixed orientation report (text portrait + charts landscape) — rotate landscape pages 90°.
  • Scanned book with cover page on the wrong end — move it to the start.
  • Removing 5 blank pages between sections of a converted Word document.

Frequently asked questions

Will reorganizing affect text quality or fonts?
No. The tool uses pdf-lib to manipulate the PDF page tree directly — pages are reordered/rotated/removed as whole units. The underlying text, embedded fonts, hyperlinks, and images are preserved exactly as in the original. No re-rendering, no quality loss. The output PDF is functionally equivalent to manually rearranging chapters in a print book — same content, different sequence.
Can I rotate individual pages without rotating the whole document?
Yes. Each page has its own rotation control. Common use case: scanned documents where some pages were fed sideways, or mixed-orientation reports (text portrait, charts landscape). Rotation is in 90-degree increments. The rotation is stored in the page's metadata (PDF /Rotate property), so viewers automatically display the page correctly. Rotation is reversible — re-open in the organizer and rotate back if needed.
What's the difference between PDF Organizer and PDF Split?
PDF Split: extracts page ranges into separate files (1 input → many output files). PDF Organizer: reorders/deletes/rotates pages within ONE file (1 input → 1 output, but rearranged). Use Organizer for: fixing scan order, removing blank pages, rotating sideways scans, dropping pages you don't want. Use Split for: extracting specific chapters as standalone files, distributing parts of a long document. They're often used in sequence: Organizer to clean, then Split to extract specific ranges.
Can I drag-and-drop pages to reorder?
Most modern PDF organizers support drag-and-drop, but the basic interface uses ↑/↓ buttons for reliability across browsers and devices. For very long documents (50+ pages), drag-and-drop becomes impractical anyway. For automation: programmatic reordering via pdf-lib (JavaScript) or PyPDF2 (Python) handles reordering in scripts. For visual editing of complex reorganizations, Adobe Acrobat Pro's thumbnail panel offers full drag-and-drop.
Will my page numbers update after reorganizing?
If page numbers are PART of the page content (typed or stamped on each page), they don't auto-update — page 5's '5' stays '5' even when moved to position 1. To get correct numbering after reorganization: (1) Reorganize first. (2) Use the PDF Page Numbers tool to add fresh page numbers across all pages. The new numbering will be sequential 1, 2, 3 in the new order. Document headers/footers added in Word/InDesign and exported as PDF behave the same way — they're baked into the page content.
How do I handle scanned PDFs with rotated pages?
Common scenario: scanning a multi-page document where some pages are sideways or upside-down. Workflow: (1) Open in PDF Organizer. (2) Identify rotated pages by checking the thumbnails. (3) Click rotate button on each affected page (90° clockwise, 90° counterclockwise, or 180°). (4) Verify all pages look correct. (5) Save the reorganized PDF. For batch operations on many similar scans, OCR-and-re-render tools (Adobe Acrobat OCR) sometimes auto-detect orientation and rotate automatically. For accuracy, manual review remains the safest.
