What it does

Build printable certificates — completion certificates, award certificates, recognition awards, course-finished diplomas — by filling in a recipient name, course or award title, date, presenter, and an optional logo. The tool produces a print-ready PDF in landscape A4 / US Letter sizing with classic certificate styling: ornate borders, italicized "this is to certify that", a serif-font recipient name in large display type, and a signature line at the bottom.

Useful for online course completion (free or paid courses where students value a downloadable certificate), internal training (compliance, safety, onboarding modules where HR wants a record), school / parent-teacher recognition (perfect-attendance, reading-challenge, science-fair), workplace awards (employee-of-the-month, volunteer recognition), and community events (race finishers, tournament participants, hackathon winners).

The PDF is generated client-side using jsPDF — your recipient list never leaves your browser. Output is true PDF/A (printable, archivable, usable by HR systems for record-keeping). For batch generation (one PDF per person from a CSV of recipients), drop in your CSV and the tool produces a zip of certificates ready to email.

How to use it

  1. Fill in recipient name, course/award title, date, and presenter name.
  2. Optionally upload a logo (PNG with transparent background works best — the logo appears at the top center).
  3. Pick a border style and color theme. Classic-gold and modern-monochrome are the most popular.
  4. Preview shows the certificate exactly as the PDF will render. Iterate until it looks right.
  5. Click Download PDF for a single certificate, or Batch from CSV to generate one per row.

When to use this tool

  • Issuing course-completion certificates from an online learning platform.
  • Recognizing employees, volunteers, or community members.
  • Schools generating perfect-attendance, reading-program, or graduation certificates.
  • Race or competition events handing out finisher / participation certificates.

When not to use it

  • Legally-binding diplomas or accredited credentials — those need to be issued by an accredited institution and often need digital signatures or blockchain-backed verification (Accredible, Credly).
  • Highly customized branded designs — this tool offers half a dozen templates; for a unique design, work with a graphic designer.
  • Certificates that need to be machine-verifiable — if recipients will list this on LinkedIn or in a CV verification system, use a certified credential platform.

Common use cases

  • Onboarding a colleague who needs the same calculation/conversion
  • Verifying a number or output before passing it on
  • Quick generation during a typical workday
  • Pre-decision sanity-check on inputs and outputs

Frequently asked questions

Will the certificate be legally recognized?
Generally no — for legal weight (e.g. a real degree, professional certification, or accredited course), the certificate needs to come from an accredited issuing body and often have digital signatures, anti-fraud features, and a verifiable issuer ID. This tool produces a beautifully-designed PDF, but it's not a substitute for accredited credentials.
Can I batch-generate certificates from a CSV?
Yes. Upload a CSV with at minimum a 'name' column (other columns can be 'date', 'course', etc. and will populate the matching template fields). The tool generates one PDF per row and packages them as a downloadable zip.
Will my recipient list be uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF generation runs client-side via jsPDF. Your CSV is parsed in the browser and the certificates are rendered in your browser's memory. Open DevTools → Network and you'll see zero data uploads. The recipient names stay private to you.
What size is the output PDF?
Landscape orientation, A4 (297×210mm) by default with a US Letter (11×8.5in) toggle. Both are standard certificate sizes that print cleanly on home or office printers without scaling.
Can I add a digital signature for verification?
Not built-in. For verifiable digital signatures, the standard is X.509 certificate-signed PDFs, which require a paid signing certificate from a trusted CA. Adobe Sign, DocuSign, or HelloSign add that workflow on top of any PDF.
How do I customize the design beyond the templates?
The templates are pre-built; for full customization (custom fonts, brand colors, complex layouts) export the PDF and edit it in Adobe Acrobat or Affinity Publisher. Or, for a recurring design need, hire a designer to create a master PDF and use a PDF-fill tool to plug in names from a CSV.
